You are to compute factored moment resistance of two cross-sections of a reinforced concrete beam that are shown in Figure 1. The dimensions, reinforcement and concrete material properties are given below bf-1500 mm 100mm 2- 30M 2-30M th Given: fe-25 MPa 400 MPa h 600 mm b 300 mm d-530 mm Determine reinforcement area Asb for balanced condition for rectangular beam in Figure la by conducting sectional analysis and check if the beam is properly-reinforced. Draw the strain and stress distribution diagram along the height of the section at balanced condition. For simplicity assume same effective depth, d, in the calculations. Compare your results with Tabl(Kcibod a) b) Find the factored moment resistance of the rectangular beam section for the given reinforcement by using sectional analysis. Draw the strain and stress distribution diagram along the height of the section. Verify the factored moment resistance with table method. c Now consider the slab, as shown in Figure 1b and find the factored moment resistance for the T-beam section for the given reinforcement by conducting sectional analysis. Hint: Initially locate N.A. within slab and verify the accuracy of this assumption after sectional analysis. Compare the factored moment resistances of two beam sections and discuss the differences. d)
